2017, in order to enhance quality safety management of veterinary drugs and
ensure that the veterinary drugs are safe and effective, the Ministry of
Agriculture promotes to implement the traceability system for veterinary
products.
For the problems that the veterinary drugs Industry lacks acquisition means of production data in a real-time manner and logistics supervision control means, the sole and only identifier is printed on package of veterinary drugs ——two-dimensional identification code. The producers, operators, supervisors and consumers can read content of the label by scanning the two-dimensional code. The relevant information of veterinary drug products can be checked by connecting with the central database through network to perform real-time acquisition of production data, logistics monitoring, effective traceability of veterinary drug products to improve the safe management level of veterinary drug Industry so as to guarantee prevention and control of major animal epidemic disease and quality safety of animal by-products.

In order to further strengthen the quality and safety supervision of veterinary drug products and ensure the safety and effectiveness of veterinary drug products, the Ministry of Agriculture decided to speed up the quality and safety traceability of veterinary drug products on the basis of pilot projects in the early stage, implement the electronic traceability code (QR code) identification system of veterinary drug products by using the national veterinary drug product traceability system, and form a veterinary drug product query system with complete functions, accurate information and real-time online traceability management system.
